Žingiai Campsite Is Beside the Asveja Channel
Žingiai Campsite lies in the central part of Asveja Regional Park, beside the channel connecting the eastern and western parts of Lake Asveja. The coordinates 55.012313, 25.579477 on this page mark the campsite access rather than the centre of the long lake or a general point for every campsite in the park.
VLE gives Lake Asveja a length of 21.9 kilometres, or 29.7 kilometres when its bays are included, making it Lithuania's longest lake. Its maximum depth is 50.2 metres, so the channel is only one part of a complex and deep lake system.
Its waterside position makes it convenient for water tourism, but that does not mean every shore or stretch of channel is open for launching a boat or walking through shoreline vegetation. Use the designated access and follow the signs.
A 1.8-Hectare Site with Basic Camping Facilities
Saugoma describes a 1.8-hectare campsite with parking and an asphalt approach from the south. This makes arrival easier, but road conditions can be temporarily affected by works, rain, frost, or forestry vehicles.
The campsite has tables, shelters, benches, a fire site, toilets, and other visitor facilities. It is a simple natural campsite rather than a full-service campground: do not assume electricity, showers, a shop, food service, or a reserved private pitch unless current local information confirms them.
A path edged with boulders, a grassy clearing, wooden shelters, and reeds along the water shape the place. Facilities may be spread out, so groups and families should agree in advance how they will share tables, the fire site, and the shore.
Camping Overnight Means Following the Site Rules
The object name and Saugoma description identify this as a campsite, but overnight, seasonal, visitor-ticket, reservation, and temporary-closure conditions can be updated. Before pitching a tent, check the current park guidance and signs on site.
Light a fire only in the designated fire site, never move it onto grass or closer to the water, and do not leave it unattended. Fire restrictions can be stricter during drought or strong wind, so follow the rules in force that day.
A toilet and shelter are campsite facilities, but cleanliness, condition, and access are not identical in every season. Bring drinking water, a container for food waste, and rubbish bags, and leave the site no worse than you found it.
The Water Is Attractive but Not a Supervised Beach
The Žingiai channel and Lake Asveja create the campsite's defining view, but Saugoma presents it as a camping and water-tourism place rather than a separate supervised bathing site with lifeguards. Swim only after considering the local conditions and your own ability.
Keep children within reach at the water, do not jump from unfamiliar structures, and do not enter the channel or open lake without suitable experience and safety equipment. Wet boards, roots, mud, and reed edges can be slippery.
If you arrive with a canoe, boat, or paddleboard, check in advance whether the chosen launch point and route are permitted. Water-tourism convenience does not remove boating, protected-area, or visitor-safety rules.
Access and Partial Accessibility
Saugoma lists an asphalt approach from the south and a car park. The final part of the site may still include natural surfaces, grass, roots, and small slopes, so leave the car in the parking area rather than on the lawn beside a shelter.
The campsite is partly adapted for visitors with mobility disabilities, but that is not a guarantee that every table, shelter, toilet, and waterside point is convenient. Assess how you will reach each area and confirm current information for specific needs before travelling.
Watch for other campers, keep service and fire access clear, and do not park in a way that blocks turning space. Quiet, orderly use helps keep the site suitable for several groups at once.
Žingiai's Archaeological Landscape
Žingiai and Velianka burial mounds, the remains of the Purviniškiai Pine, and the Karpakėlis Oak are near the campsite. They are separate natural and cultural-heritage sites, not extra campsite amenities; visit without disturbing the land or entering private or sensitive areas.
Saugoma records that archaeological excavations in 2017-2018 found a Mesolithic and Neolithic settlement and artefacts at Žingiai. This shows how long the Asveja shore has mattered to people, so do not touch or collect stones, soil layers, or finds.
Extend a day trip to the Asveja visitor centre, Dubingiai Castle Site, or another officially described park place. The campsite works best as a slow base for learning the water and woodland, not as a noisy stop on a rushed route.
