This place is on the Joniškis side, by Arino Street and Lake Arinas, rather than being an arbitrary access point along the lake's long shoreline. The map point marks a specific public beach, so navigation should look for the bathing place by Joniškis instead of any shore of Lake Arinas.
The amendments to Molėtai District's comprehensive plan identify two beaches on Lake Arinas in Joniškis: areas of 0.15 and 0.1 hectares. This explains why the lake name can lead to several different shore points, while this page describes one public bathing place.
The shore works for a short stop by the water and is close to the settled area of Joniškis rather than requiring a long forest hike. Exact access, a vehicle stopping point, and shore condition can change, so follow signs on site and do not drive onto grass or into the beach area.
Sand, lawn, and a timber pier make a simple recreation spot
Exact-place photographs show a broad mown lawn, a sandy strip, gravel paths, and short timber access at the water. The recreation area feels more like an open community meadow beside the lake than a narrow woodland bathing cove.
Two simple shelters with tables and benches, a timber swing, information boards, and a few basic recreation elements stand near the shore. The photographs record a particular time, so do not treat a toilet, changing cabin, lifeguard station, equipment hire, or refreshments as guaranteed current services.
A low wooded opposite shore closes the horizon, while the lake's long axis opens a wide view. Sand occupies only part of the site; its defining character is the combination of lawn, shelters, swing, and open water.
Lake Arinas is a large glacial-ravine lake, so the beach is not the whole lake
VLE describes Lake Arinas as a 377-hectare lake near Joniškis, 5.9 kilometres long and up to 1.2 kilometres wide. Its maximum depth is 18.3 metres and its average depth is 6.8 metres; its elongated form and varied shores reflect its glacial-ravine origin.
The western shores are higher, steeper, and drier, while the northern shores are gentler; VLE describes the littoral as narrow and sandy. These general lake characteristics help explain the landscape but do not tell you the depth or bottom at this particular pier.
Lake Arinas is a dammed water body, so swimmers should follow local signs, assess the weather, and not swim far simply because the surface looks calm. The public beach is a convenient access point, not a guarantee about every condition across the lake.
Lighting improves evening walks but does not replace swimming rules
Molėtai District Municipality reported that a public-beach lighting improvement project at Lake Arinas was completed in May 2025. Four metal supports with LED lights were installed by the shore, along with roughly 100 metres of cable.
The improvement makes a walk or community event easier to see in darker hours, but an illuminated shore is not a promise of night swimming or a lifeguard on duty. In darkness, the bottom, distance, and movement of other people are harder to judge.
The latest municipality bathing-water notice located, published on 10 September 2024, names seven bathing places on other lakes but not Arinas. This does not by itself mean the water is unsafe, but its results cannot be assigned to this beach.
The checked sources also publish no permanent lifeguard schedule or seasonal opening timetable. Before entering the water, check the municipality's latest notices and signs on site, and keep children and non-swimmers under direct supervision.
How to plan a short stop at Lake Arinas
Allow one or two hours for swimming, resting on the sand, walking out on the pier, and taking a short shore walk. A longer visit can be combined with Joniškis, but the beach itself is not an information centre or a paid activity base.
The sources checked do not publish a current official parking plan, ticket desk, or fixed visiting hours. Leave a car only in a designated or lawful place, keep Arino Street clear, and do not drive across the grass. If the nearby stopping area is full, walk from a lawful place to leave the vehicle.
Sand is comfortable barefoot, but the pier can be wet and slippery. Avoid jumping into unknown depth, swim only as far as you can control safely, and take rubbish with you. After a storm or strong wind, check whether the shore and pier are damaged before using them.
