The coordinate 55.041, 25.575 marks the campsite itself rather than the centre of Lake Baluošai. Follow access and park signs on arrival: searching only for the lake name can lead to another shore, viewpoint, or forest road.
Saugoma describes it as the largest and most popular campsite in Asveja Regional Park. It is a public recreation place in a woodland setting, not a hotel or a full-service campground with guaranteed reservable pitches.
A woodland clearing, fire pits, and lake water meet here
The current official description lists outdoor tables and benches, three shelters, four fire pits, wooden swings, a car park, two piers, and toilets. The facilities are spread across a large woodland site, but the park's most popular campsite can still be busy on summer weekends.
The campsite covers about 7.2 hectares, so facilities may be some distance apart. Children and visitors with mobility difficulties should account for natural surfaces, roots, and the slope towards the water; the official description explicitly says the site is not adapted for visitors with mobility disabilities.
Publicly available exact-place photographs show a dark spruce-and-pine backdrop, timber shelters, round fire pits, and a pier looking over the quiet lake. The character comes from the forest, water, and simple facilities rather than from a large collection of attractions.
Plan a tent stay and follow the campsite regime
The official description allows tents, caravans, and campervans, and gives a total capacity of up to 400 people. That is a site capacity rather than a promise of space, so check current rules, any registration or fee, temporary closures, and forest-fire restrictions before an overnight stay.
Campsite facilities do not mean that electricity, showers, drinking-water taps, on-demand waste collection, or food service will be available. Bring what you need for a safe stay and assess the condition and availability of toilets and other outdoor facilities when you arrive.
Use only the designated fire pits, follow the fuel and safety instructions on site, and make sure the fire is fully out before leaving. The Asveja forest is sensitive to fire, so drought or strong wind can bring stricter requirements.
The shallow Baluošai shore suits children, but water risks remain
Saugoma and the park directorate describe the shore by the campsite as shallow and popular with families. That can make the edge comfortable for children, but shallow water is not uniform across the lake; the bottom can change with water level, mud, vegetation, and waves.
Keep children within reach of an adult, do not allow jumping from the piers, and do not swim far just because the first metres feel safe. Check timber structures before use because wet boards and roots by the shore can be slippery.
The official descriptions state that the site is not adapted for visitors with mobility disabilities. The forest road, natural ground, and access to the piers can be difficult, so assess individual needs before travelling and do not assume adaptations that the sources do not confirm.
The forest-road approach requires preparation
The campsite is reached by a forest road and has a listed car park. Road conditions can depend on rain, frost, forestry work, and season, so drive slowly, keep off the grass, and do not block an emergency or maintenance route.
Allow at least two to four hours for a day stop if you want to walk, make tea at a fire pit, or swim as well as see the lake. A tent stay needs more time and supplies because shops and other services are outside the campsite grounds.
Follow park rules on the Baluošai shore: do not drive beyond permitted roads, make unnecessary noise on the lake, damage the bank, leave food waste, or abandon rubbish when bins are full or absent.
