Valakampiai Beach II: a Blue Flag Neris beach for quieter recreation among the Valakampiai pines

Valakampiai Beach II is a quieter Grinda-maintained city bathing beach on the Neris, surrounded by the Valakampiai pinewoods. It has changing cabins, a children's playground, barbecue area, exercise equipment, bicycle racks, drinking water, a free self-cleaning toilet, and a renewed path to Valakampiai Beach I. It is distinct from the more active Beach I; the nearby nudist area is not the identity of this whole entry.

Valakampiai II is the quieter Neris shore

Valakampiai Beach II is on the Neris, among the Valakampiai pinewoods on the Antakalnis side of Vilnius. Grinda presents it as a Blue Flag beach for quiet recreation in nature, set farther from the larger flows of visitors than Valakampiai Beach I.

The exact Grinda map-card point is 54.742464, 25.293056. Search for Beach II or the second beach stop in navigation: Beach I is a separate site with a large sports area.

Valakampiai II is a separately maintained official beach, so check water quality, Blue Flag status, and lifeguard information under this exact beach name. Seasonal services and river conditions can change even within the same week.

Blue Flag status and everyday facilities

The current Grinda page identifies Valakampiai II as a Blue Flag beach. The designation relates to environmental management, safety, and service criteria for a particular season; it does not mean every metre of shore is level or that swimming is safe under every condition.

The listed facilities include changing cabins, a children's playground, a barbecue area with grills, tables and benches, an exercise area, bicycle racks, a free self-cleaning public toilet, and a drinking-water fountain. These are shared facilities, so keep routes, the fountain, and barbecue places clear of personal belongings.

This is not the Beach I sports complex: the official Beach II description does not list six volleyball courts, beach football, or a basketball complex. Choose Beach I for intensive sport and plan a quieter day here.

A path links the two Valakampiai shores

Grinda lists a renewed pedestrian path between Valakampiai Beaches I and II. It extends a Neris walk on foot or by bicycle, but it is not a reason to ignore temporary barriers, repair notices, or slippery sections.

The riverside route changes from sand to grass and forest ground, so wear shoes with good grip after rain. Use the bicycle racks and do not cycle through the bathing area or the pedestrian flow.

Quiet recreation does not mean the beach is unsupervised. Stay in the marked bathing area, follow lifeguard instructions, keep children close to the water, and leave the river during thunder or strong wind.

Swimming in the Neris requires care

The Neris is a flowing river, so water level, current, depth, and temperature can change quickly. Do not jump from the pier or bank, enter boating or unmarked areas, or try to cross the river. Keep children within reach even when the surface looks calm.

Grinda's 2026 season information says that lifeguards provide order and safety at city beaches from 8 am to 8 pm, while the company carries out water and sand testing. The day's signs and lifeguard instructions take precedence over an older web listing.

Do not enter after heavy rain or when you see pollution, algae, or a prohibition sign. The Blue Flag signals a high standard, but it cannot remove personal responsibility for weather, current, and swimming ability.

Arrival, parking, and a quiet Valakampiai day

Grinda names “2-asis paplūdimys” as the nearest public-transport stop. Beach II can be reached by city transport, bicycle, or car; the official card gives about 8 kilometres and 16 minutes from central Vilnius as an orientation. Traffic changes the journey, and the paid car park may fill on hot days.

One to two hours is enough for a short swim, while a picnic, playground, exercise equipment, and the path to Beach I make 2-4 hours more realistic. Use only the designated barbecue area and clean it after your visit.

Grinda notes access from Beach II toward a nudist beach area. That is a separate recreation regime: respect privacy, follow signs, and do not photograph people without consent. This entry describes the public Valakampiai II beach, not the nudist area.
