Atgimimo Square Musical Fountain
Sixteen jets built into the square
The fountain is in Atgimimo Square at the centre of Tauragė. The municipal project record says it has 16 water jets that form different patterns and rise as high as 3 metres. It is best understood as a programmed ground-level installation rather than a traditional sculptural basin.
Each jet has a 54 W RGB LED light. Water geometry dominates by day, while colours and reflections emerge after dusk. Watch from the square edge and do not enter the operating jet field if local signs prohibit it.
Music, SMS selection, and wind response
The renovated system was designed to respond to musical tracks. In 2019 the municipality described a playlist and SMS song-selection option, while a 2021 notice recorded a refreshed five-song programme. These archives explain the concept but do not prove that the old SMS service or playlist still operates.
The project record also says the controls reduce jet height in stronger wind. A display can therefore be smaller than expected because of weather, maintenance, or an event in the square.
The present fountain opened in 2019
The renovation tender proceeded in 2018 and a works contract with Optika ir technologijos was signed on 9 October. Construction began in November and finished for the 2019 warm season. The municipal timeline records the musical fountain opening on 30 May 2019.
The attraction is therefore not an unchanged old city fountain. Its present identity comes from a modernisation linking water technology with programmable light, music, and wind control.
Archived schedules are not a 2026 timetable
The 2019 opening notice advertised daily operation from 09:00 to 22:00 with music at lunchtime and selected evening hours. A 2021 seasonal notice said music would run until 21:00. Both are dated records and should not be presented as the confirmed 2026 schedule.
The fountain is seasonal and normally inactive in cold weather. In the warm season its programme may still change with maintenance, wind, and events. Check the latest municipal notice or information on site before travelling for a specific performance. Viewing from the public square is free.
A short evening route through central Tauragė
The fountain itself usually needs 15-30 minutes, although waiting for music can lengthen the stop. Blue hour is ideal because the surrounding architecture remains visible while the RGB lighting has begun to register.
Combine the fountain with Tauragė Castle, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and Jūra River Park. With children, take care on wet paving, around unexpected jets, and near roads at the square's approaches.
