Skuodo jūra is the beach's official short name
The Hygiene Institute's 2024 profile gives Skuodas Reservoir Beach as the formal bathing-site name and Skuodo jūra as its short name. This is a public beach in Skuodas Town Eldership, not a section of the Baltic coast.
The official reservoir list records Skuodas Reservoir under code 20050103. It was formed on the Bartuva River, with the dam 55 kilometres from the river mouth, and covers 85.9 hectares.
The page coordinate, 56.264944, 21.512188, marks the visitor shore on the Krantinės Street side. The Hygiene Institute's water-monitoring point is 56.2648, 21.5138; because it lies in the bathing water, it is not a car-park or entrance point.
The 100-metre beach retains a natural shoreline
The Hygiene Institute describes a roughly 100-metre beach of fine yellowish sand. The shore remains natural, with water lilies, sedges, reeds, and sweet flag at its margins. Average bathing depth is listed as 1.5 metres and maximum depth as 3 metres.
The 2024 profile lists a volleyball court, children's play area, rowing base, and three shelters. It also records two toilets, three rubbish bins, and a waste container, but no showers. Check the condition and seasonal availability of equipment on arrival.
In 2022, the municipality reported that the whole beach had been renewed, buoys marked a safe depth, and lifebuoys were attached to changing cabins. This does not guarantee that every item remains unchanged, so inspect the signs and safety equipment before entering the water.
A water-quality result applies only to its sampling date
The Hygiene Institute profile says water quality met the excellent category from 2018 through 2024. That is a multi-year classification, not a guarantee for a particular future day.
Skuodas District Municipality's 2026 schedule provides for water and sand sampling from May to August. Its notice published on 27 July 2026 said samples taken through 17 July met requirements and swimming was allowed at that time.
Before every swim, check the municipality's newest notice and the information board on site. After heavy rain, or if you notice an algal bloom, unusual smell, or pollution, stay out even when an earlier test was satisfactory.
Clear safety and shoreline rules apply at the bathing site
The Hygiene Institute describes Skuodas Reservoir as a heavily modified waterbody with good ecological potential. It lists no systematic pollution source at the beach, although a rowing base is nearby and isolated contamination caused by irresponsible behaviour remains possible.
Supervise children and non-swimmers at close range. Do not jump into unknown depth, swim alone beyond the buoys, approach boats, or remain in the water when thunder is near. The official sources checked do not publish a current permanent lifeguard schedule.
The 2024 profile says dogs and other animals are not allowed on the beach. Do not drive onto grass or block access, use the bins provided, and avoid damaging the natural belt of shoreline plants.
A visit needs only a few clear practical bearings
Allow 1-2 hours for a first visit. This open-air public beach has no ticket office or indoor attraction schedule, but the bathing season, water monitoring, and some equipment are seasonal.
Approach from Krantinės g. 1A and leave a car only in a marked lawful place. The coordinate identifies the beach shore, not a guaranteed parking bay; traffic or access arrangements can change.
Skuodo jūra and Skuodas Town Park are separate town stops. Combine the beach with the park, museum, or church, or extend the day to Apuolė Hillfort or Mosėdis.
