A green stop in central Pagėgiai
Pagėgiai Central Park fills the urban block between Vilniaus, Vytauto and Žemaičių streets. Municipal documents call it Pagėgiai City Park and identify 1 Vilniaus Street as the location of children's play equipment. The coordinates 55.134967, 21.910171 mark the park itself rather than a vehicle entrance.
Mature and younger trees, lawns, flower beds, paved paths, benches and lighting form its everyday landscape. The official 2025 green-space model identifies the park as a principal municipal green while acknowledging uneven maintenance and a need for greater biodiversity. Seasonal appearance and individual path conditions can therefore vary.
The 2005 union monument
The park's central artwork is by sculptor Steponas Juška (1953-2015) and was unveiled on 5 July 2005. Carved in pink granite, it depicts a mother holding a small child close.
The official interpretation presents the mother as Greater Lithuania sheltering Lithuania Minor. This is an artistic reading of the region's complex fate and political union. Seasonal flowers surround the sculpture, making it the park's main photographic focus, but visitors should not climb on the granite.
Everyday recreation and community events
The municipality lists children's play equipment in the part of the park at 1 Vilniaus Street. The park also hosts Statehood Day, Christmas and other community gatherings, when stages, vendors or larger crowds may temporarily replace its usual quiet atmosphere.

Visiting responsibly
