The Lazdija stream is the landscape axis of the park
The narrow Lazdija stream, also called Raišupis, crosses the lawns. The town name derives from this watercourse, so it is more than a decorative drainage ditch. Paths and modest footbridges let visitors cross and observe it in several parts of the park.
Municipal sources mention ducks and a muskrat seen here. A wild animal cannot be guaranteed, and an approaching muskrat does not become a pet. Do not feed or touch it or the birds, and do not allow dogs to chase wildlife.
Water may collect in lower ground after rain. Work on the 2022-2023 family area began with drainage because of past flooding, but this does not mean every part of the large park dries immediately after a downpour.

The outdoor stage hosts concerts, school ceremonies, and community events. The most prominent is the annual international Border Fiesta, which brings a procession, concerts, craft fair, workshops, family activities, and an evening programme into the park.
