Zumpė Park, Kartų Park
A park around Zumpė Pond
Generations Park lies in the Žalgiriai neighbourhood in eastern Tauragė, between Moksleivių Avenue, Dainavos and Miško streets, and the Beržė stream. The municipal project area covers roughly 8.5 hectares. The older Zumpė name survives in documents and local memory, although Generations Park is now more common.
The pond and its island form the landscape centre. Two footbridges reach the island, with walking paths both there and along the banks. A short visit can circle the water, while a longer one links active zones with quieter lawns and planting.
Paths, play, and exercise built in three stages
The first stage ended in 2018 with planting, a path, lighting, CCTV, benches, bins, bicycle stands, and information boards. Stage two ended in 2020, and final island and activity-zone works were recorded as complete on 29 March 2022.
The documented facilities include children's play, exercise, and volleyball areas. A roughly 400-square-metre exercise ground beside the pond has ten types of equipment. Conditions can change, so follow age limits and local safety signs.
A trace of the former Tauragė Ceramics brickworks
One of two Tauragė Ceramics brickworks once stood opposite today's 10 Dainavos Street, and concrete structural remains survived the park renewal. In 2023 exposed reinforcement was removed or covered and the blocks were adapted into benches.
The intervention keeps an industrial layer visible rather than erasing it. However, the 2023 plan for an interpretation board does not prove that the sign is currently installed, so rely on what is actually marked on site.
The Generations Oak is a new and evolving island project
In 2025 architect Vytautė Tabbenor proposed a community-funded oak on the island, surrounded by a wall and seat made from inscribed bricks. The municipality reported on 16 July 2026 that the oak had been planted in November 2025 and the named bricks were being made.
The same update said some infrastructure around the tree was temporarily postponed while specialists protected its roots. The oak is present, but the complete seat, brick wall, pontoon, or beach should not be promised as finished.
A free everyday city park
Generations Park is an open public space with no gate or admission fee. Lighting supports evening use, but the water, bridges, and exercise equipment are safest in daylight. Grass and unpaved surfaces may be wet after rain.
Main path levels were designed with disabled users in mind, but this is not a published independent audit of every route. Wheelchair users should favour hard surfaces and assess bridges, beach access, and individual equipment on site.
