The parish predates the church
The official LELB parish account says Evangelical Lutheran services were held in the Žukai school from 1869. The independent Žukai parish was established in 1900, so the beginning of the community's history should not be confused with construction of the later masonry church.
The parish page presents worship in the school and the subsequent church as separate stages. This distinction makes the chronology clearer and prevents 1900 from being misrepresented as the construction date of the present building.
Why both 1904 and 1906-1907 appear
The current LELB Žukai parish page says the church was built and consecrated in 1904, but also notes the later year 1907 given by H. Kurschat. An archival LELB article dates the consecration specifically to 27 September 1907.
The Pagėgiai Municipality study dates construction to 1906-1907. Because the official sources differ, the careful approach is to present each version rather than declare any one date the uncontested completion day.
Architecture, loss, and restoration
The municipality study identifies Neo-Gothic and Modernist features in the red-brick building. Its unusual tower appears turned through 90 degrees, placing its gabled ends to the sides; the LELB account also mentions two naves and galleries.
After the Second World War the building served as a warehouse. LELB sources associate the start of restoration with 1992, the church's formal return with 14 July 1998, and the 2015 interior renewal with a donated altar, cross, pulpit, lectern, and pews.

The LELB website maintains a Žukai parish profile, but the reviewed official pages provide no reliably updated timetable specifically for this church. Before travelling to enter, confirm the time and door access directly with the Church or regional parish.
A map marker does not establish opening hours. Keep the churchyard peaceful, do not interrupt a service or event, and photograph the interior only when permission allows it.
