Širvintos City Beach, Širvintos Pond Beach
Širvintos Beach Is a Specific City Bathing Site
Širvintos Beach is on the Paupio Street side of the Širvintos pond. The coordinates 55.04316, 24.96022 on this page mark the beach site rather than the entire pond shore or another recreational area along the city waterfront.
It is a public urban space suited to a short outing with swimming, relaxation, and a walk. A beach designation does not mean that every nearby grassy area or shore is open to visitors; use the marked access and follow local rules.
The Širvintos Pond and the City Landscape
The Širvintos pond was formed by damming the Širvinta River. VLE gives it an area of about 52 hectares and a shoreline of about 13.1 kilometres. The beach is one developed section of the urban shore, so its view does not represent the whole waterbody.
Water, trees, pedestrian spaces, and city life meet around the pond. This feels different from a remote rural bathing site: swim briefly, then use the rest of the time for the town, a shore walk, or another route.
Wind, boats, or other activities may be present on the water. Watch the shore environment, stay within the safe area understood from local signs, do not jump from unfamiliar structures, and supervise children near the water.
Sand, Tree Shade, and Family Space
The municipality expanded the family area by Paupio Street in 2024 and, by that season's opening, listed a volleyball court, outdoor table tennis, a renewed playground, the Briedžių takas wooden-sculpture park, illuminated swings, benches, a water trampoline, and a beach cafe. Some equipment and services are seasonal, so check what operates on the day.
Swimming can be combined with time in the sun, but sand heats quickly and shade depends on where you sit. Bring water, sun protection, a towel, and an extra layer for a cooler evening.
A play area and water-recreation equipment are not a reason to leave a child unattended. Watch children continuously near the water, and check the condition of slides, play equipment, and changing facilities when you arrive.
Bathing Safety Depends on the Date
On 4 July 2025, the municipality reported that water and sand samples taken at the Širvintos pond bathing site on 30 June met hygiene standards. This is a result for a particular date, so look for a newer notice or the Institute of Hygiene bathing-site map before swimming.
Before entering the water, look for the latest municipal notice and pay attention to local signs, weather, and the water's appearance. Postpone swimming after heavy rain, if you see algal growth, rubbish, an unusual smell, or a prohibition.
Swim within your ability and follow the limits indicated on site. Inflatable rings and mattresses are not rescue equipment, while wind and the open pond can quickly change the distance to shore.
Paupio Street Access and a City Itinerary
The orientation point is Paupio Street in Širvintos. Leave a car only in a designated place, keep residential access clear, and do not drive over grass to the water. Parking and temporary traffic arrangements can change because of events or works.
Treat the beach as a separate stop rather than trying to walk the pond's entire 13.1-kilometre shoreline in one visit. After swimming, use official city paths and public spaces, and do not enter private shore areas.
A 2025 municipal maintenance document covers the water slide, jetty, information boards, changing cabin, toilet, bins, and volleyball equipment during the season. This confirms the type of infrastructure, but faults, repairs, or the end of the season can change what is available on a particular day.
What Else to Add to a Širvintos Day
Širvintos Beach works well at the beginning or end of a light summer itinerary. Use the remaining time for a nature trail, heritage trees, or a cultural site rather than expecting one beach to replace the whole district's route.
The Bijotai-Širvintas Forest Trail and the Širvintas oaks add more woodland, while Kernavė adds a hillfort and historical landscape. Plan each access and visiting time separately because distances and duration differ.
Do not light fires in an undesignated place, pitch a tent in the beach area, or leave rubbish. The value of a city beach is simple access to the water, which can be preserved by following the local rules.
