This is the observation structure on the lagoon shore south of Pervalka at 55.4018021, 21.0935783. Saugoma.lt names it the southern Pervalka tower. It is not the northern tower, the structure between Pervalka and Preila, or Pervalka Lighthouse.
Part of six lagoon-side observation points
Saugoma.lt lists six waterbird observation towers along the Curonian Lagoon. They provide designated viewpoints without requiring visitors to enter reedbeds or disturb birds.
The Curonian Spit occupies an important part of the White Sea-Baltic Sea flyway. Large movements pass over the narrow peninsula in spring and autumn, while shallow lagoon water, reeds, and capes provide feeding and resting habitat.
When and how to watch
Saugoma.lt recommends spring, when returning birds gather and low reeds do not yet obscure the water. Autumn also brings migration, but species and numbers depend on weather, water level, and timing.
Bring binoculars, wear subdued colours, and keep voices low. Keep dogs away from nesting areas, do not play bird-call recordings, and never push through reeds to get closer. No species sighting is guaranteed.
Access and safety
The tower is an outdoor public structure without ordinary ticket gates or opening hours. The coordinate marks the viewpoint, not parking. Approach on permitted walking or cycling routes after leaving a vehicle legally in Pervalka.
Wooden steps and decking may be slippery after rain, frost, or algae growth. Do not climb if the structure is closed, damaged, or moving unusually. Avoid the exposed lagoon shore during storms, lightning, ice, or darkness.
