Palanga Municipality announced the fountain's opening on the evening of 20 June 2015, and the municipal library's city chronicle records the same date. Notices from 2016 describing the fountain's return refer to the start of a new warm season, not to its construction year.
The installation was placed in the reconstructed Jūratės Street square beside Vytauto Street. Before the project, Palanga residents were asked what feature they wanted in the space, and the musical fountain received the strongest support. A formerly transitional part of the centre consequently became an evening meeting point.
Benches, flowerbeds, and public Wi-Fi were added around the square after opening. The fountain is therefore best understood not as an isolated machine but as the centre of a circular public space where visitors can stop and see the complete choreography.
260 nozzles and 48 lights create changing water geometry, not simply height
Official opening and later descriptions specify 260 nozzles, 48 coloured lights, and five powerful pumps. The tallest central jet can reach 8 metres, while the whole system lifts almost 4.3 tonnes of water per minute. These are specifications of the installed system, not a promise that every performance runs at maximum height.
A computer programme links jet height, direction, and lighting to the tempo and character of each piece. Wind direction and strength allow the controls to reduce the height or alter the angle, so a breezy evening may produce a more restrained display than a calm one.
Daylight makes the concentric water arches and central jets easiest to read. Colour choreography comes alive around dusk, though summer evenings attract more spectators around the low basin. For a clear view, arrive early and stand on an outer ring of the square rather than immediately beside the wet edge.

Municipal notices from 2015 and 2016 describe free evening programmes, short free daytime activations, and the ability to request one pre-programmed song by text message. One request cost €3 in 2016, but that is a historical tariff rather than a confirmed 2026 price.
Different seasons' times still circulate online: longer programmes beginning at either 9 or 10 pm, differing daytime frequencies, and variable opening dates. Planning a visit: season, safety, and access
The water programme operates in the warm season and normally shuts down before frost. Winter lighting may decorate the square, but it is not the same music-and-water show. Start-up depends on weather, maintenance, and the city's event calendar.
The square has hard paving and step-free principal approaches, so a pushchair or wheelchair can normally circle the fountain. Its rim can nevertheless become wet and slippery, while a dense evening crowd reduces manoeuvring room. Do not enter the basin, touch nozzles, or let children run along the wet edge.
Viewing is free, but central Palanga parking can be charged and controlled by signs during the warm season. Cars may not park in the pedestrian square itself. Check current zones, public-transport routes, and event-day traffic changes before travelling.
