Maritime play for different ages
Colourful maritime-themed complexes built from laminated timber and plastic form the park's core. The tallest structures rise to 7 m, connected by nets, bridges, climbing elements, and slides of varying difficulty. Separate swings, carousels, and smaller pieces suit younger children.
Coastal sand covers the play surface, so expect it in shoes even without visiting the beach. Choose equipment labelled for your child's age and ability rather than lifting a toddler onto a high route for the view. Adults remain responsible for supervision throughout the visit.
Why the park stands beside the pines
Children's Park opened on 16 June 2012 as a free family space away from the resort's busiest centre. Its Naglis Alley position is close to the sea but sheltered by pine forest, offering more shade and wind protection on hot days than the open beach.
Later additions included swings and a carousel. One swing is designed for a child seated in a wheelchair, with a ramp, non-slip platform, and restraints. This valuable feature does not mean the entire sandy site is equally easy to cross in a wheelchair.
Gates, season, and free admission
There is no charge for play. The grounds are fenced, lit, and covered by cameras, and the gates close after operating hours. Summer hours have historically been longer than spring hours, but old schedules are not a promise for 2026. Current opening times are posted at the entrance.
Before making a special off-season trip, check municipal notices or ask the city operator. Storms, equipment repair, or sand replacement can close part of the park temporarily. Never bypass locked gates or let children use a taped-off structure.
A comfortable and safe family visit
Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and clothes that can shed sand. Pine shade reduces heat but not ultraviolet exposure. Timber can be slippery after rain. Keep food off the play sand and use the provided waste bins.
The map pin marks the Šermukšniai Street entrance. Summer parking nearby can be scarce, so walking or cycling is often easier; leave bicycles outside the play zone. A beach walk combines naturally with the park, but account for tired children before adding another long route.
