From former bathhouse to craft centre
Menų Kalvė was created by reconstructing an abandoned former bathhouse at M. K. Čiurlionio g. 27. The municipal project did not preserve a bath exhibition; it adapted the building for craft, cultural, and educational work and aimed to expand local participation.
The low single-storey building has steps and an accessible ramp at the main entrance. Inside are hygiene, administrative, and common spaces, a gallery, exhibition rooms, and studios for creators.
Nine studios and many materials
The centre manages nine studios of different sizes. The municipality lists painting, textiles, ceramics, woodcarving, stained glass, blacksmithing, wickerwork, paper cutting, stone carving, and jewellery, although not every technique is demonstrated every day.
Open studios offer a view of the creative process and an introduction to artists working in the resort. Check the programme or contact the centre if one craft matters to you, because artist schedules and public demonstrations vary.
Exhibitions, shop, and original work
Menų Kalvė hosts changing solo and group exhibitions, creative camps, plein-air sessions, and artistic actions. It does not have one permanent collection, so a later visit may feature completely different makers.
The shop offers work by Lithuanian artists and craftspeople in leather, painting, graphic art, watercolour, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, paper cutting, blacksmithing, and other fields. Stock changes, and buying work is separate from viewing the free exhibition.
What is free and what needs booking
On 25 July 2026, the official Menų Kalvė website stated that exhibitions and open studios were free to visit. Educational activities charge and are often designed for a set group size, making registration essential.
There is no single activity price. For example, a currently listed glass-mosaic and wooden-frame workshop for four to ten people took 2-2.5 hours and cost EUR 40 per person, but that is one offer rather than a general centre tariff. Check each programme for current price, duration, language, and age limits.
Opening hours and visit planning
The published opening hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10:00-18:00. The general schedule does not list the centre as open on Monday or Sunday, while public holidays and exhibition changeovers may alter access.
