A long wooden church in the centre of Klovainiai
Klovainiai Church of the Holy Trinity stands at Pušaloto g. 9 in Klovainiai. Light vertical timber boards, a long reddish metal roof, a tall square tower, and a stone churchyard wall form one coherent village sacred-heritage ensemble. The gates and churchyard structures complete the sense of scale around the church.
This is a working parish sanctuary, not a museum with fixed visitor hours. If you want to see the interior, contact the parish before travelling and arrange a visit outside Mass.

Early-17th-century origins and the 1853 renewal
The first Klovainiai church belongs to the first half of the seventeenth century: records give either 1621 or 1624. Both dates describe the early parish period rather than the construction of the present wooden building.
The present wooden building was substantially renewed in 1853, and the tower was renewed at the same time. Its history is therefore more than a construction date: this is a parish site with centuries of use, where the current volume holds both older tradition and later work.
Klovainiai church differs from the sanctuaries in Lygumai and Pakruojis town. Come here for its wooden volume, high tower, stone wall, and 1884 organ, and plan the other churches as separate stops.
Tower, windows, and the stone churchyard wall
The building has a long rectangular plan oriented east-west. A tall four-tier square tower rises at the main end, topped by a smaller octagonal section and pyramidal roof. A smaller roof turret appears toward the east, so the silhouette is more than one high facade element.
Tall arched multi-pane windows repeat along the nave. Look at them from both the street and churchyard sides: the rhythm of pale boards and the darker roof is easiest to understand from more than one viewpoint.
A stone wall with four gates surrounds the church. It marks the churchyard boundary and shows the scale of the ensemble, but it is not an invitation to cross anywhere: use the gates and protect the wall and plantings.
Juozapas Radavičius's organ and protected interior
Vilnius craftsman Juozapas Radavičius made the Klovainiai church organ in 1884, and a workshop plate identifies the instrument. It is one specific interior highlight, but seeing it or hearing it depends on the church being open and on parish arrangements.
Three of the church's altars are included in Lithuania's cultural-heritage accounting. View them from a respectful distance, do not touch their elements, and photograph only when parish arrangements allow it.
Roof and tower structures, the roof covering, rainwater drainage, and lightning protection were completed in spring 2022, while a ramp for people with reduced mobility was installed in 2024. The ramp is an important accessibility improvement, but the route and conditions can still vary with an event.
Mass, interior access, and a Pakruojis route
The Šiauliai Diocese schedule lists weekday Mass at 09:00 except Monday, Saturdays by arrangement, and Sunday Mass at 11:00. Times can change, so check the current schedule before travelling.
Ordinary visits do not require a ticket. The exterior and churchyard gates suit a short stop; for the interior, arrive for a service or arrange access with the parish in advance.
