Adutiškis Church
A red-brick church in a borderland town
Adutiškis Church of Our Lady of the Scapular stands on Postavų Street in Adutiškis, near the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. Its red-brick volume, two tall square tower sections with silvery spires and pale masonry fence are the principal visual markers from outside.
This is an active Catholic parish, so visitors encounter it first as a living place of prayer rather than a ticketed museum. In the churchyard, notice the gate, the rhythm of the fence and the way the building meets the street of this small borderland town.
Parish history and the present building
Adutiškis has a Catholic church and parish history reaching back to the sixteenth century, as VLE records. That does not date the present red-brick building, and the 1913 date found in secondary accounts remains unconfirmed.
The parish has current 2026 notices, including information about the July Scapular feast, so visitors encounter a living community rather than a building remembered only for its past.
Lithuanian and Polish prayer context
Adutiškis is part of a multilingual border region. VLE notes that Catholic worship here is connected with both Lithuanian and Polish traditions, so visitors should respect the community's habits and should not expect every piece of information to be presented in one language.
The parish's published schedule lists weekday worship by arrangement, Mass at 10:00 on Saturdays, and on Sundays a rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet at 10:00 followed by Mass at 11:00. The schedule can change, so check the latest parish notice before travelling.
Two addresses, two purposes
The Postavų g. 3 address used on the map identifies the church building. Parish contacts also sometimes show Postavų g. 5, but that is a parish-office or contact address rather than a second church-building point. The distinction matters if you are looking for a priest or office as well as attending worship.
The coordinate 55.1558068, 26.5897242 falls on the church building itself. It is not a marker for central Adutiškis or a general public space, so use no. 3 for navigation and contact the parish about the entrance or access outside services.
A respectful visit to Adutiškis Church of Our Lady of the Scapular
The doors may not be open to a sightseeing visitor: weekday worship is arranged in advance and even a Sunday schedule can change. If you arrive during a service, do not interrupt it; dress and behave modestly, and take photographs only where they are allowed.
Allow about 30-45 minutes for the exterior and churchyard. Interior access is subject to parish permission, so contact the parish before travelling; the doors may be closed outside services.
