Varėna Town Song Valley
An open-air event space in Varėna
Varėna Song Valley is a public outdoor stage and leisure space surrounded by water and forest. It is not a museum with fixed daily hours and not the name of one festival: concerts, choral events, markets, family activities and seasonal programmes take place here.
The venue is also called Varėnos miesto Dainų slėnis. Alytus has a separate Song Valley in another municipality, so the town names identify different event spaces.
Infrastructure renewed from 2018 to 2022
An infrastructure-renewal and public-use project was implemented from 2018 to 2022. Its value was about €462,200, financed by European Union, state, and municipal funds.
The renewed space includes a summer stage, an audience area, engineering networks for events and provision for temporary trade, parking and catering. These services are organised for particular events and are not year-round facilities.
A stage between pines and water
The Song Valley's character comes from more than its stage. Pine trees, an open audience area and the edge of a water body give events a more intimate Dzūkija landscape than a town square. It is possible to pause here without an event, but the condition of seating, paths and the shore can change.
The venue is used for choral festivals, professional music concerts, and family programmes. Stage layout, seating, and trade are set by organisers rather than by a permanent park schedule.
