Where Kalita Hill is and what operates here
Kalita Hill is at 25 Kalno Street on the eastern edge of Anykščiai. The hill rises near the confluence of the Šventoji and Anykšta rivers, and more open parts of the slope look across the Anykščiai valley and the edge of town. The operator dates the present sport and leisure centre to 2009, when the summer coaster was installed. Later official tourism-development documents planned additional lifts, lighting, piste machinery, and snowmaking equipment, while a 2024 regional-park planning document identified a Kalita Hill recreation-priority zone for an active-leisure and entertainment complex. This is documented development of the site rather than local legend.
Kalita is a collection of seasonal activities, not a park entered on one inclusive ticket. The rail-guided coaster is the main green-season draw; warm-weather options also include tubing and virtual reality, while skiing starts only after the operator prepares sufficient snow cover. Check the status of the particular activity you want before travelling.
The 500 m alpine coaster and its riding rules
Kalita's 500 m twin-rail alpine coaster is presented by the operator as the first attraction of its type in Lithuania. Its sleds descend through five bends, a raised feature, and a loop before carrying their passengers back uphill automatically. Riders regulate speed with the handles, while centrifugal brakes cap it at about 40 km/h. This is neither a freely sliding winter sledge nor a conventional amusement-park roller coaster.
Each sled has two seats. When an adult and child ride together, the taller person who can control the vehicle sits behind and operates both brake handles. Seat belts remain fastened for the entire ride. A minimum gap of 25 m must be kept from the sled ahead, rising to 50 m when rails are wet or slippery. Stopping on the descent, deliberately delaying following riders, and climbing out on the course are prohibited.
Children younger than 3 are not admitted. Those aged 3 to 7 ride only with a responsible adult; the operator's published safety rules and on-site judgement determine whether an older child may travel independently. No general minimum height is stated on the public coaster page. Intoxicated visitors are refused, while anyone whose condition could prevent safe control should not ride alone.
Tubing and the moving virtual-reality platform
In the warm season, visitors descend the natural gradient on purpose-built one- and two-person tubes. The current description gives the run as 60 m long. Independent use starts at 130 cm; a child aged at least 3 but shorter than that rides with an accompanying person. Visitors taller than 2 m are not admitted, and a normal single tube must not carry two people.
Tubing is unsuitable during pregnancy, under intoxication, or when a health condition could be aggravated by impact and fast sliding. Scarves and other objects that could catch must be removed, and the attendant's instructions followed. The virtual-reality attraction seats two people on a moving platform synchronized with headset images, sound, and effects. A session lasts about four minutes, is recommended from age 5, and has no published general height limit. It is still an intense sensory experience, so discuss motion sickness, balance problems, or sensitivity to vivid images with staff before buying.
Skiing: slope dimensions, lifts, and dependence on weather
In winter, blue and red runs measuring roughly 250-350 m are prepared within an area about 500 by 300 m, with approximately 40 m of vertical difference. The official description lists four surface lifts, floodlighting, a snow park, six snow cannons, piste-grooming equipment, and instructors for children and beginners. Snowmaking helps but cannot guarantee operation through a thaw or unsuitable weather.
On July 21, 2026, the official page expressly stated that the 2025-2026 ski season had ended. Summer opening hours therefore must not be read as a skiing timetable, and the next season's opening date cannot responsibly be predicted. Before making the journey, check the latest slope report and whether every lift or only part of the area is operating.
In the most recently completed season, adult 1-5 hour passes cost EUR 9-18 on weekdays and EUR 11-20 on weekends and public holidays, with reduced rates for ages 6-14, seniors, and visitors with disabilities. On the same date, one coaster ride for a visitor aged 14 or over cost EUR 3.50 Monday to Thursday and EUR 4.50 Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. The age 8-13 tariff was EUR 3 or 3.50, while an age 3-7 child rode free with a ticket-holding adult. Tickets are charged per person, so two paying passengers need two tickets. Tubing cost EUR 1-1.50 depending on category, while VR cost EUR 6 per person. Recheck every price officially before visiting.
No comprehensive public description covers a step-free route through the car park, toilet, ticket desk, and each activity. The hillside is steep, boarding the coaster and tubes requires a transfer, and the rules require safe control of the equipment.
