Gateway to the Dieveniškės Loop
The visitor centre is in Poškonys, on Centrinė Street. It is the best starting point for the park because the Dieveniškės area is distinctive both geographically and culturally.
The park protects more than nature. Saugoma.lt emphasizes ethnocultural values, street-strip villages, the Dieveniškės urban complex, and traditional architecture, so the centre helps visitors understand a landscape shaped by people.
Ethnocultural Heritage Exhibition
The centre's exhibition theme is Ethnocultural Heritage. It should be the first stop before going to Poškonys, Žižmai, Rimašiai, or Dieveniškės, because without context the street-strip villages can look like ordinary settlements.
The exhibition helps identify village plans, farmstead placement, the logic of old streets, traditional architectural features, and the borderland's cultural layering.
A Building on Old School Foundations
Saugoma.lt states that the visitor-centre building was rebuilt on the foundations of the old Poškonys school, restoring the authentic volume and facade expression.
That means visitors begin not in a neutral administrative building, but in a continuation of local memory, fitting a park whose core values are ethnographic and urban-planning layers.
Opening Hours
During research, Saugoma.lt listed the centre as open Tuesday-Friday 9:00-18:00 and Saturday 10:00-15:00; closed Monday, Sunday, and public holidays. Hours may be shortened before holidays.
