Editorial policy

Lietuva.love is a project for exploring Lithuanian culture and travel. This policy explains how information is prepared and corrected, its limits, and what the sources and dates attached to content mean.

Responsibility and AI assistance

Content is published under the Lietuva.love name. Web Aloha built and technically maintains the website; this does not itself mean authorship or scholarly review of every article.

AI tools are used to draft, edit, translate and check content. AI checks can help identify language, consistency or source issues, but can miss errors and introduce mistakes; they do not constitute human or specialist review. Their output is not an independent source of evidence. Source links and automated checks do not establish that a person or subject specialist verified every claim. We do not claim that experts have reviewed the entire website. A named reviewer may be credited only for a real contribution with a stated scope.

Sources are assessed for the question they answer

For historical claims, we seek primary testimony, archival records or reliable scholarship; for cultural context, academic publications, museums and other institutional sources. For practical visits, the site operator or an official tourism body is generally the appropriate starting point. General summaries can guide research but do not replace evidence for a specific claim.

An institutional name is not a guarantee that every claim is accurate. A source’s date, purpose and direct relevance matter. Where evidence conflicts or is missing, uncertainty should remain visible. A link may provide background for a topic without substantiating every sentence on the page.

History, folklore and present-day interpretations

We distinguish historical testimony, recorded folklore variants, scholarly interpretations, later reconstructions and contemporary practice. An account of a deity or symbol does not establish that all people in the past understood it in the same way. Regional and period differences matter.

Song and narrative provenance should use verifiable publication or archive details: collection name, identifier, volume, page or item number, recording locality and date where known. Unknown collectors, performers, places or dates must not be invented. An editorial retelling is distinct from a verbatim archival transcription.

Translations and lyrics

The English and Russian editions explain Lithuanian material and its cultural context. Translations may adapt explanations but must not strengthen an unsupported claim or remove a qualification. Important Lithuanian names and terms are retained or explained.

Original Lithuanian lyrics and a translation are separate works. A literal or meaning-based translation supports understanding; it is not a singable adaptation unless explicitly described as such. A singable adaptation requires a separate label, an actual translator or adapter credit, and appropriate rights. Reviewing a translation does not itself verify every historical claim in the source text.

Dates and the scope of review

A publication date records publication; an update date records a content change. A check label identifies its method (AI, human or undocumented), language edition, date and scope. Human review requires documented evidence; no reviewer is assigned automatically. Checking Lithuanian text does not establish a check of its English or Russian edition. A preparation or release-approval date is not a publication date, and internal approval does not itself establish human review. A check without a content change does not advance the update date. It is not a guarantee that every site fact was checked that day. Dates must not be changed merely to make content appear recent.

A link-availability check, image retrieval or coordinate verification date refers to that action. It is not a factual review date for the entire article. Before travelling, confirm opening hours, prices, accessibility and entry conditions with the operator.

Photographs and illustrations

The site uses documentary photographs and illustrations, including AI-generated images. A generated illustration is not a documentary photograph of a real place, person, ritual or historical event, and cannot substantiate such a claim. Captions and descriptions should make an interpretive or illustrative role clear.

Where image authorship, origin and licence details are provided, they apply to that specific image. Rights for archival texts, recordings, photographs and new translations are assessed separately: a traditional work does not automatically make every recording of it free to reuse.

Original material and contributor credits

A recipe may be called tested only with evidence of a real cooking test; a route may be called checked on site only after a real visit. Publishing photographs, recordings, teaching resources or translations does not itself establish specialist approval. Such claims require an account of who did what, when, how and under which reuse permissions.

Corrections

To report an error, send the page address, the claim to correct, and a reliable source or explanation if available. Corrections are assessed against evidence; popularity alone does not verify a claim. A substantive correction and its basis should be explained alongside the content where relevant to readers, and related language editions should also be checked.
