Druskos Studija Creative House, Druskininkai Salt
A working artist's studio, not a salt-therapy room
Druskos Studija is neither a halotherapy room nor a conventional museum of objects behind glass. It is the family creative house of Aušra and Tauras Česnulevičius, where finished works stand alongside workspaces, tools, and raw pieces.
The duo have used salt as an artistic material since 2009. The studio shows works at different scales, including sculptures weighing hundreds of kilograms, as well as mineral-spring salt samples and other original objects.
How Druskininkai salt is made
The artists say they have extracted salt from Druskininkai's mineral springs for more than a decade. Water is evaporated slowly until crystals remain, their colour and inclusions shaped by the local mineral material.
The studio's statement that its crystals are comparable with the Fleur de Sel category should be read as the makers' own product description, not an independent laboratory certification. The visit centres on material, process, and artistic experiment.
The Salt Lesson and other programmes
During an educational activity, visitors listen, handle salt, and make a small souvenir. The official Druskininkai description gives a duration of about two hours and says programmes may be presented in Lithuanian, English, Polish, or Russian.
The studio also offers activities for children, families, groups of friends, and workplaces, and organizes hikes and cultural outings. Programme, duration, language, and age limits depend on the booking, so arrange every detail beforehand.
Opening hours and prices in 2026
On 25 July 2026, the official studio website listed doors open from 11:00 to 18:00 while also clearly asking visitors to make contact before arriving. The hours should not be read as guaranteed walk-in access without confirmation from the hosts.
On that date, a group of one to five people was quoted EUR 30 without an activity or EUR 60 with an activity. Prices for larger groups, individual programmes, and outings appear with the offer or are agreed separately. Recheck rates, duration, and inclusions before booking.
A practical visit in Ratnyčia
The studio is at Smiltynų g. 9 in Ratnyčia, not in the museum quarter of central Druskininkai. The coordinates mark the entrance to a venue operating in a private creative-house setting.
