Maps call the place Piniava Leisure Area. Municipality documents describe it as a renewed public space and Lėvuo riverfront in Piniava, making the beach, sport facilities, and bridge parts of one larger community project.
Do not confuse it with the Panevėžys city-administered Piniava recreation-area bathing site in Tičkūnai village. The Institute of Hygiene places that bathing-water monitoring point at 55.7794, 24.3711, about 700 metres from the leisure-area point on this page.
A 2018-2021 public-space project reshaped the riverfront
Panevėžys District Municipality signed the project funding agreement on 14 March 2018, but the local vision began earlier. Piniava residents contributed ideas at meetings in 2016, and a technical design based on that work was completed in December 2017.
The project aimed to adapt Piniava's public spaces for physical activity, recreation, and community events. It covered not only the Lėvuo riverfront but also Piniava Square and pedestrian loops connecting the village's principal public spaces with rest points.
The municipality states that all project activities were completed in December 2021. That date explains the infrastructure's origin but does not certify the present condition of every item, so inspect surfaces, railings, and exercise equipment before use.
The site combines a beach, sport, and children's play
Work on the Lėvuo riverfront created a beach, improved access to the river, refurbished the pedestrian bridge, and enlarged the car park. Benches and tables, fire pits, and changing cabins were also installed for visitors.
The active area includes a combined tennis and basketball court, table-tennis tables, a parkour area, outdoor exercise equipment, and a children's playground. These facilities stand beside open grass and the tree-lined river edge, allowing active recreation and a quiet break in one visit.
The pedestrian bridge is an important local connection, but its surface can be slippery after rain or frost. Supervise children closely beside the river, on the steps, and around exercise equipment, and do not use damaged or temporarily closed facilities.
A beach is not the same as an officially monitored bathing site
Panevėžys District Municipality describes a beach at this location, but the checked sources do not establish this exact leisure-area coordinate as the official Piniava recreation-area bathing-water monitoring point. Do not automatically apply test results from the other location to this riverfront.
Before entering the Lėvuo, read local signs and assess the current, depth, riverbed, and appearance of the water. The National Public Health Centre advises against swimming after heavy rain or when water is cloudy, discoloured, foul-smelling, or affected by an algal bloom.
No permanent lifeguard schedule could be confirmed for this point. Even beside a renewed shore, supervise children closely, do not jump into unknown depth, and never treat a sandy beach as proof that the riverbed is safe.
How to plan a short visit to Piniava
One to two hours is usually enough for the riverfront, pedestrian bridge, sport and play areas, and a short rest. A bright, dry day is more comfortable for the sand, lawns, and sport surfaces; wear non-slip footwear after rain.
Use only the designated car park and keep pedestrian connections clear. Light a fire only in a clearly marked fire pit when current fire conditions allow it, extinguish it completely, and take all rubbish away.
For a longer outing, combine Piniava with Panevėžys Senvagė, the Culture and Recreation Park, or the Ekranas Lagoon shore. Navigate to the exact Piniava Leisure Area point, because another recreation site beside the Lėvuo uses a similar name but is a separate place.
