A park where the manor house no longer survives
Pandėlio Manor Park lies in Pandėlys, Rokiškis District, on Rokiškio Street. Visitors should know that the representative manor house no longer survives: the place's identity is now carried mainly by trees, avenues, a pond, terrain, and scattered traces of the former estate.
The park is also known as the former Pandėlio Manor Estate; both names refer to the same place.
From the Rajeckai estate to Koscelkovski's park
Pandėlio Manor is known from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania period; in the seventeenth century it belonged to the Rajeckai family. Its owners later changed, but the manor's story remained tied to the development of Pandėlys and its surrounding landscape.
M. Koscelkovski laid out the park in the first half of the nineteenth century in a style associated with Italian Romanticism. Square-planned spaces were connected by gravel paths, while carriage avenues created a formal route through the grounds that can still be sensed in the surviving paths and tree groups.
Maples, limes, elms, oaks, and mature planting
The surviving park covers roughly 5.4 hectares. Maple and lime avenues, striking elms and wych elms, old oaks, sycamore maples, and Pennsylvania ash give the site its character, so the best way to experience it is to walk slowly rather than stop at one viewpoint.
The park has lost part of its original appearance, but its mature trees still reveal something of the former manor composition. Summer brings shade and dense greenery; autumn makes trunks, avenues, and paths easier to read, while after rain the gravel and grass may be uneven or slippery.
Pond, paths, and traces of the estate
The park retains estate fragments, a water body, the path and road system, and surviving paving. The former rotunda site, barn ruins, and ice-house ruins let a walk become a search for both landscape design and disappearing architectural traces.
The manor pond once held carp, and stories describe courtiers travelling on a decorated gondola during celebrations. That is historical context rather than a visitor activity today: keep away from wet banks, do not enter ruins, and protect the park's vegetation and remaining structures.
Planning a visit to Pandėlio Manor Park
The park has no museum ticket desk, permanent guide, or separate opening-hours schedule. Visit in daylight, allow 45 minutes to an hour and a half for the avenues and pond, and combine the park with Pandėlys town sites if you are planning a longer route.
