Kužiai Church, Kužiai Parish Church
The present church is the wooden building of 1946
The sanctuary at 7 Vilties Street was installed in a wooden house in 1946. Its long boarded body and tall multi-stage square tower are deliberately modest and should not be confused with the monumental reinforced-concrete predecessor.
Coordinates 55.983424, 23.136643 mark the entrance approach. Kužiai is in Šiauliai District and is not Žeimiai in Jonava District, despite the churches sharing a similar dedication.
Several sanctuaries appear in the parish chronology
The story begins with land granted for a chapel in 1652-1653. A wooden church is later recorded in 1873, followed by a temporary sanctuary used after the First World War.
A reinforced-concrete church built in 1929-1932 was destroyed in 1944, and the remaining walls were blown up around 1965. The current wooden church continues that history but is not the surviving interwar structure.
