GODÒ, Godo Gallery
GODÒ Gallery on an Užupis art route
GODÒ Gallery is at 6A-12 Malūnų Street, LT-01200 Vilnius, in Užupis, and is a distinct visitor destination. The nearby Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center at 8 Malūnų Street and the Užupis Art Incubator have different addresses, operators, and programmes even though they fit naturally into the same walk.
This is not a large museum with one permanent display. It is a small working exhibition space where the experience depends on the current show, an event, and which room is accessible that day. Check the official programme before planning a trip around a particular artist or work.
An independent space operating since late 2018
GODÒ’s own description dates the start of its Užupis activity to the end of 2018. Monthly exhibitions have presented about 100 artists, mostly local creators, while the programme has gradually widened its geographical reach. Today the gallery maintains a changing curatorial programme in a compact space.
Events and artist activity are part of the gallery’s identity. An LRT cultural item presents GODÒ as the venue for a Giedrius Jonaitis exhibition, while the official programme shows both solo and group exhibitions. A named presentation is a dated programme event, not a permanent display.
Changing photography, graphics, and interdisciplinary work
A GODÒ exhibition may bring together painting, graphics, photography, and interdisciplinary practices. The exhibition and event archive shows how themes and materials change, so a work described in an older publication may no longer be on view. Following the current calendar is more useful than searching for one fixed gallery symbol.
The official description also refers to a first-floor exhibition room and a basement event space. They belong to one GODÒ Gallery, but a rental, event, or artist project does not automatically mean that every room will be open to casual visitors. Confirm the room and access for the exhibition you want to see.
Historic building scale and exhibition atmosphere
The operator’s rental description gives the total gallery area as 94 square metres, divided between the first-floor room, basement room, and rest and kitchen areas. This is a compact space, so visitors may not be able to enter every part of the building at one time.
The same description mentions surviving old structures, brick walls, and modern black accents. That atmosphere helps explain GODÒ’s visual character, but it should not be confused with the Jonas Mekas centre or the Užupis Art Incubator courtyard, which are separate destinations in the district.
GODÒ Gallery hours, free exhibitions, and access questions
GODÒ usually opens Tuesday to Friday from 13:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 12:00 to 18:00; Sunday and Monday are not regular opening days. Installation work, holidays, and private events can change the hours, so confirm that the gallery will be open on your date.
Ordinary exhibition entry is usually free, but a particular event or private rental may have different conditions. There is a step at the main entrance, a spiral staircase to the basement, and the toilet is not adapted for visitors with reduced mobility; ask the gallery about a specific route.
