An 1892 station on the Klaipėda-Bajorai line
Giruliai Railway Station was built in 1892 when the Klaipėda-Bajorai railway opened. It became an important connection between the port city and the growing seaside resort.
The building is listed in Lithuania's Cultural Heritage Register as property 32565. It is municipally protected at local significance, with both architectural and historical value.
Brick and timber sections
Heritage documentation describes a rectangular building formed from two ranges. The compact masonry section is single-storey with a raised attic volume.
The timber range is also single-storey and has an open central section. The combination of red brick, decorative wood, roof silhouette, and platform elevation gives the station its resort-railway character.
Working infrastructure, not a stage set
The tracks and platforms remain active. LTG infrastructure documents list two 247-metre platforms at Giruliai, so this is part of a working railway rather than an abandoned museum.
Passenger stops and ticketing can change; plan only with a current LTG Link search. The exterior can be viewed from lawful public approaches, but access inside the historic building is not guaranteed.
A safe stop in Giruliai
Photograph from the platform or public side of Stoties Street. Never step onto tracks, cross barriers, or enter operational areas. Trains can pass quickly and more quietly than expected, so remove headphones near the railway.
Combine a short architecture stop with Giruliai Library and the beach. If driving, do not block railway-service access or safe traffic routes.
