The Telšiai DŽIUGAS House combines three functions: a branded shop, a café, and an introduction to cheese through tasting. The venue is on Respublikos Street by Lake Mastis. The shore can be seen through the windows and from the terrace, making it easy to extend a short stop into a lakeside walk or a route through Telšiai Old Town.
What distinguishes DŽIUGAS hard cheese
DŽIUGAS is a long-matured hard cheese made from cow's milk. The producer offers cheeses matured for different periods, so a tasting is not simply about trying one piece: it compares texture, aroma, and intensity. Longer-matured cheese generally becomes more brittle and pronounced, with more naturally formed crystals.
The name refers to the Samogitian legendary giant Džiugas and the identity of the Telšiai region. This is a cultural reference chosen by a modern brand, not evidence that similar cheese was made in the giant's legendary age.

The shop and café can be visited during normal business hours, but a fuller guided tasting should be booked in advance. Its content, group size, length, and price depend on the current programme. On 25 July 2026, the official Telšiai tourism description listed daily opening: Monday-Thursday and Sunday 10:00-21:00, Friday-Saturday 10:00-22:00. Because food-venue hours and holiday schedules change, treat these as guidance and confirm directly before travelling.
