MėmelGP Kart Track: a two-surface kart circuit from a covered corner to an outdoor straight

MėmelGP at Mickai is a kart track opened in 2016 and expanded to 650 m, combining covered concrete and open asphalt in one circuit. In good weather up to 16 people can drive at once, while in rain or cold the approximately 250 m covered section allows year-round operation; every lap is timed automatically. The exact MėmelGP listing on Google Maps scored 4.6 out of 5 on 13 July 2026.

A 650 m lap through covered and open track

In good weather, the MėmelGP circuit is 650 m long and connects two different environments in one lap. The covered section has a concrete surface and the open section asphalt, changing grip, braking feel, and how carefully a driver can apply the accelerator out of a corner.

The entire circuit is not enclosed inside a building. In precipitation or during the cold season, the outdoor section may be taken out of use and only the roughly 250 m covered course remains, so year-round operation does not mean the full 650 m lap is available every day.

Up to 16 people can drive simultaneously in the good-weather configuration. Tyres and other barriers define long straights, tight bends, and small level changes, meaning a quick lap depends on the correct line as much as maximum speed.

From a 260 m track to the present kart centre

The Mickai kart track officially opened in August 2016. Founder Gintaras Lukošius chose a site near Klaipėda to create a year-round karting base for western Lithuania and studied ideas at other European kart tracks.

The first circuit was approximately 260 m long and 6 m wide, with 19 German karts. Later stages added the outdoor asphalt section and expanded the fleet; by 2019 the full lap had reached the present 650 m. Old descriptions giving 260, 500, or 650 m therefore refer to different stages of its development.

Memel in the name is Klaipėda's historical name, while GP means Grand Prix. It is a contemporary leisure-business identity, not a continuation of a race circuit that operated here in the historical Memel era.

RiMO karts and automatic lap timing

The current official presentation lists 25 German RiMO single-seater karts and one two-seater. Before a session, staff assign equipment and explain the pedals, direction of travel, flag signals, and what to do after stopping, so a driving licence is not required for a recreational kart.

An automatic timing system records every kart's laps. The report after a session lets drivers compare individual laps rather than only the final position, making it more useful on a second run to improve a braking point and line than to attempt an overtake in every corner.

A standard individual session lasts 10, 15, or 20 minutes and includes a familiarisation lap. Ten minutes in a kart feels more physical than the same time in a car because there is no suspension, both hands remain on the wheel, and lateral force acts on the body in bends.

A first session and safety rules

First-time visitors complete a participant form, attend the briefing, and wear a fastened helmet selected by staff together with all issued equipment. A balaclava is compulsory with a shared helmet, loose hair and clothing must be secured, and phones, bags, or other objects that could fall are left outside the circuit.

After stopping or spinning, a driver must not get out of the kart. Raise one hand, remain seated, and wait for staff unless staying would be unsafe. Deliberate contact, driving against the direction, dangerous weaving, and pressing accelerator and brake together are prohibited.

MėmelGP's official pages contain a height inconsistency: its service and booking information advertises single-seaters from 140 cm, while the general rules say over 135 cm. Plan using the stricter 140 cm threshold and obtain direct confirmation before booking for a shorter child.

A minor must be accompanied and supervised by an adult who signs their form. Intoxicated visitors or anyone unable to control a kart safely cannot drive, and staff can stop dangerous behaviour with a red flag.

Children's school, two-seater, and spectators

A Sunday kart school is offered to children and teenagers from the advertised 140 cm threshold. A two-hour lesson combines warm-up, theory, two 10-minute runs, and error analysis, covering speed control, braking point, racing line, overtaking, and defending position.

One two-seater RiMO kart is available for a smaller child or a person unable to drive a single-seater independently, with separate driver and passenger positions. Public information does not define the passenger's precise age, height, and health conditions clearly enough, so reserve it only after direct agreement with staff.

Companions can watch from a spectator area above the covered circuit but may not enter the live track. The complex also has a shooting simulator with a 5 x 6 m screen, a fan zone, and an event room, while groups can book qualifying-and-final race formats.

2026 prices, opening hours, and booking

In July 2026, a first 10-minute run costs €16, 15 minutes €19, and 20 minutes €22 per person. A second run of the same durations on the day is listed at €13, €15, or €19, while a 30-minute weekday session is €35. Check all prices on the official site before travelling.

Suit and glove hire and the complete lap-time report are included. A helmet is also provided, but a compulsory reusable balaclava costs €2 when using a shared helmet; ask whether your own compliant helmet is accepted.

The official contact page lists Monday as closed, Tuesday-Friday 14:00-19:00 by advance booking only, Saturday 10:00-20:00, and Sunday 12:00-19:00. Hours and circuit configuration depend on season, weather, races, and private events, so verify them on the day.

The booking system asks visitors to arrive at least 15 minutes early for registration, equipment, and briefing. The address is Vaškių g. 30 in Mickai, coordinates 55.611802, 21.268308, about 10 km from Klaipėda; arriving by car or prearranged transport is most reliable.
